The Other Is A Sleep
why am i here i ask
denied of a reply
making money the only task
taxed until the day i die
what is the meaning?
in the simplest terms
i keep on dreaming
without significant returns
i’m not surprised to find
that the world was rigged
open doors in my mind
it was my heart i gigged
numbed in the pale silence
current demons are encrypted
we kindly invite violence
while coming off as fake or scripted
another random, Tuesday
visiting the familiar voices
reminded of the role i play
the weight...

celebrating International Woman's Day! A poem:
Hear me roar
As quietly as a lioness
With the same finesse
So fine
The empty shadows
That fall
On empty walls
Of long forgotten heroines
Obscured by those
That censored the books
That have dug in the hooks
Of control
Yet the lionesses
That labour on
As the sweet song
Of equality lingers
Poised, and poignant
Elegant, and civilised
Human, and humane
Controlled
By the will of some men
Again
And again, and again
Adore the roar
This is what we should all strive for

ghost buds
the little
ghost buds
were expected
on
the trees,
its show piece
among
the uncountable
leaves,
rambling green,
do not
hesitate
to show
yourself,
your beauty
is self-evident,
but one
may disappear
without notice,
and in
the column
of blue-gray,
you
will not
lose
your identity.

A Seagulls' View
To be a seagull
Floating
Along the silver grey sky
Clouds looming
Darkening
Yet the sullen earth
Remains dry
Yet unpredictably sly
Snaking along
In a quickening breeze
The seagull
Flaps, and flutters
As it sees what it sees
As the spilt remnants
Of discarded tourist food
Snapped up
Without so much as a thank you
Seagulls can be very rude!

One More Night
I drink deeply of the silence
Of starry late winter skies
My old friend Orion marches in step
With Gemini and his companions;
A new moon hides behind the dark veil,
leaving distant suns sparkling with rare brilliance.
A teenager I once knew
Yearned painfully to reach those stars;
Eighteen to eighty serves up
A disheartening dose of reality
Year by year, day by day,
Moment by soul-crushing moment.
Yet dreams dead and buried
Slowly but surely give way
To clarity that cuts through the noise

A Ponderance
As i sit here
Within my bed
Pondering the world
Inside my head
I dream of sleeping
And dreaming
Venturing
Into the wild wonderlands
Of anticipation
I drift
Floating through thoughts
As i'm left wondering
At possible destinations
That await me next.....

Mad, Or What?
So here i am again
Living within the mundane
Trying to remain sane
Hoping that the inane, won't turn me insane
I don a white coat, not a mac
This white coat, does up at the back
But it's only put on when i go quack
And a flibble, and a flobble, and a yackety yack
It appears to all intent, and purposes, that ive gone mad
Or is this just another fad
Or another weird dream that ive had
When i need more padding, on my pad
It wasn't long, before i grew palmed hair
As i began growling, like a bear
And laugh...

voices of ancestors
i heard
the sound
of flutes
playing in
the garden,
the fields,
leaves
alive now
with spirits,
no one
is asleep
in the far off
graveyard,
ancestors
wait,
their voices
come from
the
moist soil,
they
let me know
dreams
still exist.

Flying Pigsfeet
Flying Pigsfeet
Ann had cooked the pigsfeet. Cat and Alice brought the steaks.
Clare arrived with veggies and Sarah’s tasty cakes.
Family members talked and laughed before we took our seats.
The house was filled with smells of food. I couldn’t wait to eat.
It was a lavish dinner on the eve of Halloween.
The table was bedecked with food. What a scrumptious scene!
We all sat down and bowed our heads while Pete said Holy Grace.
Then everyone began to eat at a wondrous tasty pace.
The steak was tender, the veggies...

The Warrior Mice
The Warrior Mice
The orange and gold of the dark desert floor
did a fade with the plummet of the Sun
-and the red heat ebbed in the twilight
-while the blue stars twinkled in the nightlight.
-When the brown sand shifted in the moonlight,
two mice did run, run, run
through a deep, deep gully of an upslant hill
over sand in the night sublime.
-Their hearts beat faster in the lost light
-from impending disaster of a fright night
-by the claws of an Owl now in mid-flight
as its wings sliced the air from behind.
But...

The Giggle
The Giggle
In the misty, murky mire of a mangled, marshy mud
rose a Moon betwixt the shadows ‘neath a starry night above.
No bird beat wings. No mouse did squeak. Not even an owl’s hoot
could pierce the stillness clinging to the trees and plants and roots.
I stomped upon a cigarette. The embers fumed and fizzled.
As I turned to go back inside, I swore I heard a giggle;
not large but small, not big but tiny, not huge but very wee,
behind the house down by the marsh’s solitary tree.
I stepped on leaves. I sloshed thru...

The Human Hourglass
how much dust are we
an accumulation of experiences
shifting listlessly down
drowning...dreaming from
birth to death & whatever time lies in between
isms and possibilities
measured by our moments only
mirroring hopes of true transcendence
achievements are merely a bonus
in the grand scheme of things
icing on the perfect cake
maybe the muse of a condensed lifetime
so long as we don't idle
on that human hamster wheel
letting it overbake
putting the call on hold
gravity falls & we're meant to...
