A Blank Pain
Pain has an element of blank” ~ Emily Dickinson
Leave it to a blank pain
To fill in for a most sinful rain
To chill these lovely old bones
Of one who still only atones
From the moment I do awake
I feel each felt painful ache
Wounds I do then give myself
So they stack high upon the shelf
With little now left for rhyme
While I abide an unabiding time
Such a fulsome empty element
Set here as rigid as any cement
For such is the way of things
With these gifts Death brings
Turn a house into a...

Remorse
Remorse- is Memory- awake-” ~ Emily Dickinson
Sometimes I still forget
it is not the same as regret
not just par for the course
all of this more than ample remorse
Having a moral dimension
with all of its apprehension
with all that it cannot dare say
about a sinful yesterday
That I can never truly escape
a cloaked specter with a cape
haunting me even now
with every single why and how
These things I can’t undo
unable to begin again...

Because I could not pause for Words
After Emily Dickinson:

Because I could not pause for Words―
They kindly paused for me―
The Pages held but just Ourselves―
And Vibrant Poetry.
We knew no Prose―our Verses chaste
Had safely put away
Long Sentences and Paragraphs
And every wild Essay―
Verse into School where Children played
Their Nursery Rhyme Ring-Ding―
Would feed the Young and Curious Minds...

Because I could not stop for Death
He kindly stopped for me” ~ Emily Dickinson
Death will not stop for me
For He still tags here along
Joining in this melodic Song
Sung from my Book of Days
Reminds me in so many Ways
Of All that went wrong then right
Whether in Midday or Midnight
My Course was always true
Until our long Journey is through
The last Word is finally said
My Truth then lying down dead
As my last Breath sets me free
He kindly stopped for me” ~ Emily Dickinson

Just One Question
Dear Emily Dickinson,
Just one question:
Can a parking lot be a prairie?
See, there's this bee & me,
Sort of an irreverent revery,
Won't let me get my work done.
Pushing carts for Walmart's no dream job,
But to be fair,
One must look good
For an audience,
Despite the sting of reality.

[The cottony Eye of Sleep]
Poetry response to "Sleep is suppose to be" ~ Emily Dickinson
The cottony Eye of Sleep
Again shutters out the day
With the Dreams it does now keep
Ever distant from the Fray
LIke willowy leaves of Fall
Whose drifting is so serene
With its still beckoning call
Paints another sacred Scene
While the Artist nods her Head
After making the last Stroke
Lets the Canvas dry instead
Before I am then Awoke
The cottony Eye of Sleep
Again shutters out the day
With the Dreams it does now keep
Ever distant from the Fray
LIke willowy leaves of Fall
Whose drifting is so serene
With its still beckoning call
Paints another sacred Scene
While the Artist nods her Head
After making the last Stroke

[There is a Poem here somewhere]
There is a Poem here somewhere -
Within this bright Meadow fair
Waiting for me to now see
Perhaps shaded by that Tree -
Or maybe now dancing bright
bathed in an august sunlight -
wearing ever verdant sleeves
those forever clever Leaves -
So I listen to the breeze
The poetry of these Trees
All that it has to now say
On this lovely Summer day
Knowing in the final end
How these lines will always bend
Coaxing my heart to roam
Bringing me to this Poem
Within this bright Meadow fair
Waiting for me to now see
Perhaps shaded by that Tree -
Or maybe now dancing bright
bathed in an august sunlight -
wearing ever verdant sleeves
those forever clever Leaves -
So I listen to the breeze
The poetry of these Trees
All that it has to now say
On this lovely Summer day
Knowing in the final end
How these lines will always bend
Coaxing my heart to roam
Bringing me to this Poem

[I am because we are]
I am because we are
How rare that that may be.
A single breath to share
For all Eternity ~
While going hand in hand
Still striding side by side ~
Across this fertile land
To reach the Ebbing tide.
Dear loving Bride and Groom ~
Oh, how we do unite!
So beautiful our bloom
In darkness or in Light.
Not knowing in the end
How any Story goes ~
Every line meant to blend
While Love forever grows.
How rare that that may be.

[It is in this Heartful place]
Quatrains inspired by Emily Dickinson (1830 - 1886)
It is in this Heartful place
that Spring again does Her thing
this lost warming deep embrace
of old songs I did love to sing ~
When Wonders were everywhere
still meant to be clearly seen
such Beauty beyond compare
dipped deep in Her verdant green
Dotted with sweetest Clover
to now brighten up my day
holding hands with my lover
only Poetry to say

[To drain the vast Blue sea]
Poetry response to “To make a prairie” by Emily Dickinson
To drain the vast Blue sea
Is quite the Feat to me ~
A tremendous endless flow
Executed without a flaw
Permits me to Withdraw
A trillion Thrice cried tears.

So, how would you enjoy today
with the jeu de mots that you play
nestled in your hamlet
but running your poetry blog
Becoming just another cog
in the big cyber wheel
no longer able to Feel
the silkiness of your line
Cashing in the Divine
for a little bitcoin cash
making that bold dash ~
to sell your poems on Kindle
Watch your art dwindle
in its Virtual verse
bracing for the worse
with your canopy of Hope
Engaged in a secret caper ...

[What Poet dreams I seek to find]
What Poet dreams I seek to find ~
Here beneath this sapphire Sky
Leaving prosaic things behind
Along with all questions why ~
While I Weave along each line
Surefooted on my feet
Still in search of the Divine ~
Within Everyone I meet
