A Merry Metal Xmas
Merry Christmas, to all the poets/poetesses here at DU. This year was only the beginning, folks. Seems arriving here has put some wind in the sails of my creative journey. That was my Christmas gift, I received from my fellow writers here at DU. You all helped me rise again like a glorious phoenix. Or some other town in Arizona. lol. The Guiding Light
He went for his daily walk like he did every morning around 9:00 am
Today was Xmas
The weather was overcast with some light flurries
His wife was home and they will be spending Xmas with her parents today
His mother died 10 years ago
He hasn't spoken to his father since the time of her passing
They haven't seen eye to eye for many years prior, but once she died, they stopped talking

Merry Chistmas
divine soul lilting through time
lighting up my life, God and I
in sync and deeply connected
at one with Him and his spirit
joined with the people
we feel each other intimately
rejoicing this season
colorful lights family get togethers
a special time of year
festive and bright
let's not forget those struggling
because this time of year can be daunting
for those dealing with pain
the grey overwhelming
depression sets in, feeling left out of the celebration

Those that suffer have the kindest hearts.Its our job as 'word people' to ease their suffering just a little.
Today, wherever you are and whatever you're doing just stop and look out the window and think.....
There are others far worse of and they deserve to be thought of on Christmas Day.......

Feeding the Birds on Christmas Day
Behold the feast on Christmas day.
An eclectic mix of feathered friends flock from their mysteriously unknown far aways.
Or those close by, drop in with their beaty hopeful watchful eyes.
An enigmatic warble as winter's hungry pang amplifies.
A fully stocked feeder and seed generously scattered in the patch of dank mulch beneath the tree.
The dark eyed junco arrives in threes, to merrily peck the decadent seed.
Coined as snowbirds. Tweets of contentment and excitement, thankful for the human that dispersed the Christmas festivities.
I peacefully smiled a...

Happy Holidays !!!
It's even on the shortest day
that we might see some sun
confirming with a lazy ray
another orbit done.
But that is when the season starts
where things get really tough,
especially for lonely hearts
when love is off the cuff...
and so to decor we resort
with beaux-arts and some cheer
to see unhappiness abort
before the newest year!
We fill the dying days of old
with brand new love and light
so no lone psyche gets too cold...
on an extended night:)
that we might see some sun

Babuska's sarmale
In a snowy Romanian village, during Christmas cheer,
my Babuska spun tales, both delightful and queer.
The tradition was sarmale, a savory delight,
Cabbage wrapped treasures, cooked all through the night.
Meat and rice nestled in leaves so green,
simmered in tomato, a feast so serene.
But woven in laughter and holiday charms
were Babuska’s stories with their quirky alarms:
"Behave well, dear children, lest you wish to be seen
in the pot with the sarmale, simmering and lean."
The children would giggle, eyes...
