Rhythm O (Marina Abramovic)
Rhythm O was a 6 hour work of performance art by Serbian artist Marina Abramovic in Studio Morra, Naples in 1974. The work involved Abramovic standing still while the audience was invited to do whatever they wished, using one of 72 objects she had placed on a table. These items included a rose, feather, perfume, honey, bread, grapes, wine, scissors, a scalpel, nails, a metal bar, and a gun loaded with one bullet.
I was challenged to do a poem about Marina Abramovic. To honor this amazing woman I am going to perform her Rhythm O here on DPU. The rules of this post are listed below,...

A Literary Spirit
For les bouquinistes, the second-hand booksellers of Paris, in their fight to retain their more than four hundred years of placement on either side of the Seine, amidst plans by the Olympic committee to remove them
The rows and rows of non-fiction,
and comics and literature,
once looted from the pillaged homes
of lace-trimmed girls and card players.
The stanchions of written words
divided just by water’s edge
have withstood that, so will do this,
beside a phantom troop of pamphleteers.

Madame Guillotine...
Culling condemned folk can cause lots of stress
to executors though, they have great tools,
let Madame guillotine end that distress
Of gas, needles, Ol' Sparky, cooking flesh
all that stuff merely entertains the ghouls,
culling condemned folk can cause lots of stress .
It will end all their doubts no need to guess
dosage, or amps, proof against lib'ral fools,
let Madame Guillotine end that distress.
There's just time for a Priest's hurried "...od bless " ...

Earplugs
Times like these are dangerous
darkness dimming sun song
No birth of notes splashing
against our ears
before the poem digs up the well
of our heart
I don't wish for silence
but a roar from the shadow
howling for the symphony
the unity
of a thousand instruments
orchestrated as one
shattering the disease
spreading like olive oil
over the flowers
who's petaled eyes
are glazing over in disbelief
I will not shut my mouth
to...

A year's gone by
Almost a year’s gone by
and I am yet,
against my will,
a shaken reed,
un-stilled
and ever drained,
and drear,
a hollowed thing,
laid sere and grieved and low
by unrelenting need.
I thought that I was stronger
for my years,
and that by now
I’d know relief
from emptiness
and grief
that’s centered in the loss of you..
But this, I see,
is such
a self-deceiving lie.
and I am yet,
