Himalayan holy land
Where gold is the mortar of tears
Found in snowy hands
Of alpine mandalas
Whose wheels pray on the mantis
In his winter lodging
For kingdom to become
A pack of wild snow leopards
On sly meadows gone to thunder

Snow Leopards Of Tibet
Snow Leopards Of Tibet
Their coats of arms bore the emblem of the snow leopard guardian of the Himalayan holy land. Tara was the wife of Gesar of Ling whose superhuman life was legendary. He fended off the evil minions of Māra the demon who tempted Buddha under the Bodhi Tree. The sorcerer of evil was no match for Siddhartha.
But one summer day in the high Himalayas Māra saw the Tibetan Goddess Tara bathing in the Brahmaputra River on the outskirts of Lhasa. Māra instantly changed form to a bodhisattva and told her there was an evil...

Josie the Roshi
Josie the Roshi
He opens, “We are a far piece from Japan.
What brought you to open a Zendo here, Josie?”
“Zen on the beach appealed to me.
I am not a stoic Zen master”
Josie the Roshi tells him,
“These shoes turned up on the lost and found
after our group tea ceremony.
Often the tea ceremony performed
by the geisha becomes so hypnotic
that the man gets temporary amnesia.
Humor an old lady and slip into these shoes.

A town called Transcendence
Sapling’s rise from the forest floor
In times when trees can walk no more.
They teach the ways of root and leaf
and cut the ragweed from belief.
As sure as sun will bring the rain
the laws of droplets can be changed.
The owl that turns his head to see
will be at one with all that breathe.
A flower-bud bursts into life
the bloom so bright it carries light,
a cry announced into the world,
yet still the blossom starts to curl.
Of spiders that rebuild each web
and walk the path step by step,

A POEM ABOUT MIND FULLNESS
ain't no quiet in here, mama
'cause this monkey don't sleep
and there ain't enough wisdom
in the whole buddha-wise world of dog eared books
to reign that rank beast in
and so there ain't no quiet jasmine scented peace
like what i wished for
'til i learn to hear past it
and that ain't no kinhin in the park
(that's a joke)
like i got these clouds rollin'
thick and ominous
as the ocean from whence they sprung
rumblin' rat grey and troubling this anxious mind
and a worried sailor takes to the bridge ...

Paths of need
for I am each, and they are me
the cosmos one true entity.
Each footfall on the cobbled street
a child's first step
the wire without a safety-net
Dry tomes, wise words
inner gears that spin a web,
distractions as they flow and ebb.
Distance never hold's the unlocked door
with just a push, its truths outpour.
The embodiment of nature's ease
searching for the inner self.
The endless tides that wash the kelp
a constancy to be refreshed.
Barefoot through torment; fingers numb
the rock face yields no grip ...

Planetary Alignment
In the quiet temple of time I close my eyes
Full Lotus style in sitting acceptance
Closing my eyes
Elevating my mind, relaxing my heartrates
Transcending to the evolution realm of my Crown Charka
Slowing opening the portal of my Chi
Revealing the doorway to the passage of enlightment
The comforting insignia of my Dragon’s Blood incense sailing
Inhaling the aroma of my foreign allegiance to my ancestral greatness
Conjoining the positive momentum
Purging the unconstructiveness
Allying the spirit of my mind...

Buddhist Nun
Buddhist Nun
Eyes that echo like conch shells
From canyons of stone and sun
Where Bodhi trees collect on hillsides
For the little Buddhas
to proliferate enlightenment
Where her eye facets go starry
Like the diamond of the sutra
Spoken by Siddhartha
But growing like a child in her scriptural womb
Where consolation floats like a constellation
Of Himalayan stars over a unicorn forest
Where the singing bowls
Turn her mind into a magnifying glass
Which focuses the sun of truth to burn a hole
Through the stale air of...
