Is It Far?

Is it far?

No.  It is always just a breath away.

Can I see it from here?

You have always seen it and felt it.
It is the brush against your skin,
The crush of your teeth when you chew,
The ground that holds you up when you walk.
It is here and always has been.
It awaited your arrival and when you came it caught you
You played together before it had a name.

What is it's name?

Call it what you will but it will not come
Besides, a name is only useful for getting its attention
And you already have that
You could use a name when talking to others about it
But deep down
Everyone already knows everything you'd have to say
It comes before you have a chance to call it
And it doesn't mind anything you'd have to say about it
It is never offended and always thinks the best of you
Maybe you could lend it your name if you feel it needs one.

How long has it been here?

It was born the moment you were and will die with you
So you are not alone, even for one moment
It waited a long time for your arrival
And even now it awaits your future
And your children
And all your loved ones to come
It is patient
But it cannot wait to meet you
Time is just a game to it

What does it look like?

Why don't you ask it?
There it is, holding the butterfly in its flight
Or over there making the lawn mower's blades spin
Do you feel that?
It is the wind.
Tell me what the wind looks like and you will have your answer.
