A Day From Hell
Yesterday, nothing seemed right
Everything I touched turned to lead
Weighted heavy on my head
The imagined demons, under my bed,
Walked and drove the streets, around me, instead
Nerves on high alert, nails on a chalkboard, irate
A pit-bull on steroids, barking at anything that moved
Frustration held me in its chokehold
I prayed I wouldn’t weep, as I laid me down to sleep
A soul repent, woke to the dawn
Refreshed, smiling, to greet the new day morn
He gives us nothing more than we can handle, but with the giving, a way of escape
Everything I touched turned to lead
Weighted heavy on my head
The imagined demons, under my bed,
Walked and drove the streets, around me, instead
Nerves on high alert, nails on a chalkboard, irate
A pit-bull on steroids, barking at anything that moved
Frustration held me in its chokehold
I prayed I wouldn’t weep, as I laid me down to sleep
A soul repent, woke to the dawn
Refreshed, smiling, to greet the new day morn
He gives us nothing more than we can handle, but with the giving, a way of escape

Awe! You are speaking of God's love here. You are right He puts on no more than we can handle on us, although it seems like we will break. By our faith and His grace we always get thru. Great write!! :)

Dear Glynis, as my state of mind is. Wish I could take that ride with you. Expressive as usual there, my dear.

Thank you Grace
The ride is the state of mind, change that and you change what comes around you.
Be well my friend.
Much Love

Glynis:
We have all been there
This poems will hit many people's memories
There is a saying: If HE led you to it; he will be with you through it. So trust in the Lord.
The last line...waiting for another day
is always true. Your history is not your future.

I really enjoyed the image
"The imagined demons, under my bed,
Walked and drove the streets, around me, instead "
It is such a common feeling and you expressed it so effectively through this image. To me, those two lines are what sum up this whole poem. It was really easy to relate to and I know it will stick in my mind for a while.
And your last line at the end: so encouraging. I agree completely with you. We all go through those times in life where we question if God is really there for us at all... But He is! :)
Thank you for posting this poem.

I've had one of those days. . .and I'm glad it was just "one of those days". Anything more would have made me suicidal;) Excellent write, dear friend!
