A Day From Hell
Yesterday, nothing seemed right
Everything I touched turned to lead
Weighted heavy on my head
The imagined demons, under my bed,
Walked and drove the streets, around me, instead
Nerves on high alert, nails on a chalkboard, irate
A pit-bull on steroids, barking at anything that moved
Frustration held me in its chokehold
I prayed I wouldn’t weep, as I laid me down to sleep
A soul repent, woke to the dawn
Refreshed, smiling, to greet the new day morn
He gives us nothing more than we can handle, but with the giving, a way of escape
Everything I touched turned to lead
Weighted heavy on my head
The imagined demons, under my bed,
Walked and drove the streets, around me, instead
Nerves on high alert, nails on a chalkboard, irate
A pit-bull on steroids, barking at anything that moved
Frustration held me in its chokehold
I prayed I wouldn’t weep, as I laid me down to sleep
A soul repent, woke to the dawn
Refreshed, smiling, to greet the new day morn
He gives us nothing more than we can handle, but with the giving, a way of escape
