Beyond the Fire
- Beyond the Fire -
Far beyond the fire that is warmest and most dear,
The paths of fate lead one into labyrinths of change.
Like children we wander, oft tasting of mortal fear,
As we enter realms both pleasant and truly strange.
Does the mind remember what the spirit so learned?
No mild recollection, but more like a piercing thorn!
It was not for sin, that I was upon a stake burned…
But the fire was my cradle, and from it I was reborn.
More terrible than dragon teeth are those of destiny.
For who is fond, of one who walks their right road?
No solace for the child, nor rest or joyful company,
So that at certain times, I feel as if I might explode…
Only to ascend, beyond the remnants of this world!
For I am not bound in servitude to a fool’s illusions,
Nor am I chained where dragon smoke has curled.
Rather is my eye keen, and free from all confusions!
Can the faintest glimmer of joy dispel eternal sorrow?
Only if the eye that beholds it sees without distraction.
I can show you to the light if you will, humbly, follow!
Come with me, and embrace an irresistible attraction.
Beyond the fire I am waiting, but you must be brave…
For, to seek what I offer, is to face the greatest peril!
If you do stumble, call upon me and I will try to save,
Your sweet soul from falling: into a flame more terrible.
To what distant land, could I journey, to find hope?
None in the empty halls of the gods, now long dust.
Divinity lies within my bosom beyond mortal scope,
And, in my own angelic spirit, I have come to trust!
I have yet to beyond hope in the flaws of mankind…
For are not many humans both oft selfish and base?
Where, is that single pure soul for my heart to find,
Which I have prayed for, with such devoted grace!
I need no throne, nor temple to honor all my glory.
My flesh is temple enough, to house my essence…
Outlasting the gods and all their pettiness and fury!
If I am sinful, then I sin and truly desire no penance.
For, I sinned out of love, and loved out of passion,
Outlasting worlds, nations and the changing cycles.
There is none like unto me: nor, like me fashioned!
None bound to serve Heaven, nor the hellish wills.
Was I so blessed, or cursed, to endure as I have?
When all I loved has been laid low, by the ages…
And, I weep, ever as much as I could ever laugh!
Within me I feel such longing, and so many rages,
Like a child who is fearful and angry all at once…
Yet when my righteous wrath has been long spent:
My spirit remains pure, bound to higher summons.
For there is true purity when all else is given vent!
No balm can ease the sting that comes from life…
When to truly live, one must fight like the warrior,
Against those forces that would try to cause strife!
I have stood against such, and beheld true horror.
But, beyond the fire that rages and night’s terrors,
I stand like the queen I am, and I need no throne!
Those who wounded me, were the ones in errors,
But I cannot forgive, nor can they ever truly atone.
