Choices

Take away from me these thoughts
While we weary fall to the lost
Haunted by the recollections
Caught at life's diamond intersection
Choices dictate the life we live
Common sense is never really akin
To the outcomes of our decisions
Falling through heart incisions
Planting trees to climb in the distance
Eyes shut through the heat of the night
We never truly get to see the light
That is supposed to be waiting for us
At the end of the tunnel, off the gold bus
When we make the right choice..
But the right thing never dictates the easy
Most often the painful bliss is queasy
To make no choice is to have no consequence
But is that not in itself a consequence?
The impact on the conscience
of "what if" is a heavy lesson
That can hold for a long time
Just keep the control in mind
Miniscule decisions are made in light
Just some depict our darkness
Our descent into our minds night
