Rush

I move too fast for you to see,
step too fast for you to keep,
speak too fast for you to hear.
I live so fast to avoid you, dear.

You've been with me for all my life,
scratching at the back of my face.
Waiting for the day I break,
and you take your rightful place.

The rush is coming, little man.
Faster than you can understand.
The rush is coming, little man.
More powerful than you can ever stand.

I think too fast for you to steal,
I feel too fast for you to think,
I act too fast for you to control,
I live so fast to keep you in your hole.

You've lived for me for all my life,
Kissing at the back of my face.
Waiting for the day I turn around,
and accept your eternal embrace.

The rush is coming, father.
It's faster than we knew.
The rush is coming, father.
And for once, I do need you.

I think so slowly,
I feel it too.
I act with sloth, entirely.
I live to be like you.
