Lace Dainties
Daphne bounces up and down
on overstuffed camelhair furniture
while grandpa patiently catches her
every bountiful boisterous bounce.
Boing-boing. Jim wonders when sixty
year old furniture springs might give out
or perhaps his joyful granddaughter might
first tire of watching fat lazy snowflakes
gliding one by one, collecting like white
lace dainties beneath soft silk petticoats
bouncing up and down expecting him
not to lose his precarious sense of focus
and let his precious princess down.
