Rush, Rush, Rush
(dedicated in horror of the monstrosity that is Black Friday)
Rush, rush, rush;
for days, head of this line.
To have the latest gadget,
it must be first mine.
YOU'RE FIRED!
"We have the exclusive!"
"You'll hear it here first!"
"We bring it to you live!"
(sometimes good, but mostly the worst)
SPECULATE! MISINFORM!
The IPO hit
and I must have my share;
quickly inflating the bubble,
POP! I have nothing to wear.
SHOTGUN BLAST!
Late for work,
meeting time nears,
weaving through traffic
slamming on brakes, grinding the gears.
CRASH! MEATWAGON!
"Coming soon... a must have"
"... a must hear"
"... a must see"
"... be the first to own"
"... hurry now... exclusivly!"
SCAMMED! BROKE!
A catch phrase,
a buzz word,
to make us move quick.
No time to smell the roses,
not to have makes us sick.
We are conditioned to want;
to be ahead of the game.
How 'bout you sit down... relax.
You'll get what's coming.
(America: founded on capitalism, sustained by greed)

Greed indeed. The "short memory" of the masses is a reminder that the many follow without foresight. Considering the economic disaster across the globe it is sobering to see the herd going on, increasing personal debt, clamoring for things not needed instead of appreciating the things that matter...things we can't buy.
I was in NYC area much of the last 3+ weeks since Storm Sandy and there are still many without homes or dealing with deep destruction.
I especially applaud our military here who have lived in tents and served nonstop since the storm.

Thank you very much and amen, brother. Your comments mean a lot to me. And I second every applause for the military, red cross, salvation army, and private citizen who helps out, not only for Sandy, but year round - disaster or not.

Thank you very much. It's becoming (or is it already?) an epidemic. It never ceases to amaze me how much people are duped by the constant buzz to buy, thinking they they need it or else; and getting a deal. I guess it comes down to lifes priorities. (sorry, I'm ranting.)

Thank you very much. I think the punctuation was key to separate and show how external influences (news, advertisment) contribute to America's growing culture of neediness to material goods.
