When I Was As All-Knowing As You

The longer I live
the more each moment
reaches for meaning
while fleeing
heaviness
as lightness of being
returns
like youth
brandished by one
who
no longer has
the strength to wield it.
So then, telling
the tale
of life
and
the lessons of love
with every good intention
of saving someone
the pain
of wasting time
on non-essentials
nevertheless
wasted on ears
not engaged
in hearing from one
so obviously
past
relevance.
A revelation
reveling in
rebellion
without reason
rejecting
a consummation of experience
spent,
but also earned.
Spellbound
now
in a trance
looking outward and recalling
for all
the lessons of all,
listen-
what I thought I knew
I see now
from
a better perspective
offered up for you,
no cost,
no strings,
just wishing you
could by-pass certain things
for wisdom,
a trap laid no longer
when warned
ahead of time.
But, seeing me a fool
having seen me fall
my word is null
as was
the word of the one that warned me
when I was as all knowing as you.
