Winter Ballad

Walked along the lonely winter streets searching for her
In order to fill the space left vacant in my heart, it's her perfect key.
I wish to have and set me free.

As feathers fell to rest upon my shoulder
I heard the whisper of her voice in my ear.
Reaching to the illusion of her I cannot believe she's real, but it's so comforting.
To live within a dream where we can always meet for a very limited time.
Assuming all have left us behind, could there be a reason for it?
Pleading for answers in the snowy scenery, I hold my hand out again.

Between our hands there falls one flake of snow
Within the silence of white
By a churchyard somewhere
In the comforting obscurity.
Beneath sheltering
Old oak.
As lamplight warms the crisp still air
I whisper low dreamscape
Question....Are you still there?
My fingertips reach out to stroke his cheek
Warmth spreads from I to he.
The solace I seek.

The feeling of rebirth to her painted picture.
On the blank wall of towering snow.
Having nothing left to lose she's the reason I chose to keep moving forward.
Leaving everything else behind it never really mattered not without her to share with.
As I stared into the moon I'm relieved that she too somewhere stares back.
In that warm place I wish to be too
Instead of where I'am.

Where you are dear soul? I whisper
Deep within my weathered
Veins of ice.
Warming the tempered metal only known
As my heart.
I mean what is that shambolic two bumped.
Scarlet symbolic heart?
Which tails off downwards
To a point of nothingness.

Well, that was what I believed.
Until our fingertips of blue mist reached out
By the
Graves of obscurity.
Beneath the trusted old oak
Where snow fell through two lost forms tethered by a smile.
Both stood umbilicus
Enraptured for some while.

For the first time "I'll be there"
Dying thankfully "I'll be there"
Help me reach this hope, the rope has snapped.
