There I Was,The Fool Again
Like a beautiful flower with damaged petals
I saw the pain in her eyes
Her beauty was dented
Her smiles gone
Something drew me close
I got closer
The stories began to flow
I began to know
Where she was and where she's coming from
Moved by her words
I shared in her pain
It started with pity
And ended with love
I didn't even know him
But I desperately wanted to hurt him
Payback
For hurting this pretty thing I've come to love
Now my mission was to erase her bitter past
While working on a perfect future
How far can I go with this mission
Is the question I began to ask at last
For in me she found a new strength
Full-fledged again the wounded bird began to fly
Then I saw some things I didn't see before
Soon as she left the floor
In search of something she wanted more
Her attention drifted from me
I tried to suppress my suspicion
Hoping soon it'll get better
I've been warned to stay off brokenhearted ladies
But how can the healer in me manifest
If I see a soul demanding my skill of rehabilitation
And look to the left
Now I'm neck deep in love
Too shy to come to terms with my stupidity
For this lady only used me for solace
Now she's out to find her lost love
What a bitter pill to swallow
What a fool I've been
For failing to read the signs
With my heart I'll pay dearly
Every night I slept and fondling the pillow
Wishing she was right by my side
Waking up intermittently to see if she's back
While she's busy kissing him outside
I played deaf to the rumors
Feigned ignorance to the accusations friends brought
Not wanting to believe any of them to be true
Yet I couldn't dodge the conviction in my heart
Lately she became hilarious
When she's on the phone
I tried not to guess who's on the other end
Secretly I died alone
We neither had time to talk
Nor the time to kiss or f*ck
Always she's on the move
I can't deny it she's found her new grove
After much persuasion and pressure
She admitted to seeing someone else
Where does that leave me?
She had nothing to say
My amazement would've been contained
If the "someone else" was really someone else
My temper was so hard to maintain
When I discovered it wasn't really someone else
The same guy that put her through the all the pain
In those days she sat and wept
Is the same guy that was kissing and caressing her
My heart leaped in anger
In fury I moved
I couldn't bear the injury
Dragged her away from him
As my other hand sent the bastards to the floor
She screamed and pounced on me
Yelling at me to let them be
The last straw that broke the camel's back
Was when she said "this is where my heart lies"
My heart shattered
I became paralyzed
My world grew dark
I couldn't believe my eyes
She aided him off the ground
Turned around and said "goodbye"
I stood motionless,my heart stopped...
There I was,the fool again
I saw the pain in her eyes
Her beauty was dented
