Left Out in the Storm

Settling upon a pure white rose
My wings slow down to rest
I close my eyes, embrace the night
Hoping for the best

For I hear the thunder rumbling
A storm is starting to brew
I'm taking shelter in velvet petals
Praying they will carry me through

I hear the whisper of your wings
So I peer out of my spot
You are fluttering by, with another
Not giving me a single thought

Your laughter rings out against the trees
Her joy is obvious too
I disappear within the rose
My heart turning dark blue

The clouds roar overhead
Cold rain falls from the sky
My own cool tears blend in with ease
Because I believed your LIE

I knew you'd pick another
With beautiful, dazzling wings
She'd bat her eyes, you'd smile at her
And listen to the angels sing

The wind howls fierce around me
My rose sways side to side
But not one drop interrupts your dance
For within your love you hide

Your lips meet hers so gently
Her cheeks turn blushing red
I bite my tongue, refuse to scream
My body fills with dread

Your wrists gleam in the moonlight
KR, initials worn
KS contrasts on her pale skin
Yet, I am left out in the storm

I decide to cut my heartbeats short
Stepping into the rain
I tuck in my wings, close my eyes
And prepare to end the pain
