A hippie who never wore a colourful bandana
A late bloomer he was,
with nothing much to say.
Sitting by the corner of
his favourite coffee shop
wishing for world peace
but he never wore a
colourful bandana.
Note: this is the first time i've written anything of this sort. Please bear with me until
I learn the skill.

I see what you mean. Is sweet, sad and brilliant.
It could work for me. But in my case I had green punky hair.

Something magical in your words here I feel. You have tied many colours of memories, which is almost haunting n hits those favourite rainbow mind spots in me :)
First , it made me smile..the late bloomer he was n the world peace ooh,
no bandana..this gives a radical touch that he's an extreme hippee, totally free even of their identities! but, this is just me, lol.
something nostalgic about that corner coffee shop too.
very well received piece my poetess! thnxx fr this n do much more this way.

Uma, i don't deserve your praise surely. I wouldn't say he's an extremist but a rather passive hippie as he sits at the corner of the coffee shop rather than go out and fight for his beliefs. I appreciate your interpretation nevertheless. It reminds us that everyone's different and we should encourage this diversity.

There's a subtle pessimism to this poem which is just delightful. The hippie doesn't wear a colourful bandana and has nothing much to say, perhaps because he's lost his passion. This is one of your most enigmatic pieces; it could no doubt be interpreted a thousand different ways, but I like to see it as a comment on how life crushes the free spirit. Thank you for the read.

I like your word placement here "world peace" which may have a parallel obejective to the central character in your poem who is also not fighting but silent. So the appeal for peace is truly apparent. Brilliant knock Ophie!!!

To me, this is a remarkable poem just the way it is. You don't need practice in writing this type of poem. You have a natural gift for it. I like this poem even better than some of your longer ones, which I like, too, but some of the longer ones do not have the consistency, insight, flow and metaphor this shorter one does. Thank you for this gift to me, my friend.

The inactive activist is like a dormant volcano...it doesn't make an impact until it explodes onto the scene. Many, including me, hope for peace and yet do nothing to achieve the goal. Although I try to maintain peace in my own microcosmic sphere.
