Distraction Steps Aside
indoors
i sense it
regardless of room
housing me
out in the street
a car door
closes
is it faint
thud I hear?
is it wave
of vibration
a combination?
why does it
command
instant attention?
is it letting
bodies out
or shutting
them in?
the latter
is what
ultimately
I`m
involuntarily
hopin`
no explanation
just aware
of preference
indicated by
muscle relaxation
when that ride
pulls away
from
nearby station
its not a good sign
I realize
its some kind
of "hide"
I dont
wanna deal
with anyone
from any tribe
why?
it`s hard to describe
did you
ever feel
mood subside
or just
revelation
of emptiness
when distraction
steps aside?
after sun-soaked
Sundae
fatherly pride
double-checked
checklist
all is alright
suddenly
forcibly ignored
omnipresent
abyss
is where
my soul falls
to reside
here
alone
at the end
of night
all I know
is I`m afraid
to know why

On one level, this is common: toothache, paper cut,hangnail....
I don't
wanna deal
with anyone
from any tribe
But stench, racial, socio-economic, AIDS, gender preference, gender, attractiveness bias, IQ/EQ..a host of other things are a tension below the interpersonal surface that attacks us in a cold sweat...inescapable because of shame or humiliation.
Yes.....but we need a resolution here. Others are in control because we give them control. We allow it because on some level we agree with them. This is screaming for an answer to that problem. Create a solution. What would it take? Guess who's coming to dinner? In your face. Intolerance is manufactured daily. Get at the underlying process. Desmond Tutu/Reconciliation Commission.
