Darkness and Light
- Darkness and Light -
Darkness and light, in every heart do combine;
I don't want a saint, just an angel to call mine.
Who needs perfection when for it angels fell...
We have one foot in Heaven, the other in Hell!
Why not just be honest, and make the best...
Of the paradises we can build; forget the rest!
Nothing is without flaws, and with new years,
Old dreams fade, and with them: the old fears.
It is time to build new dreams, new memories!
Will you help mine to come true, so blessedly?
I ask so little, yet have endured so much pain,
I have sought so far, for very dear is the gain.
In my heart I know you have oft felt the same,
So hold tightly my hand and banish all shame!
To know love we must surrender and give in,
To know passion, we must realize it is no sin.
My hands grow so weary with work and time;
I don't need a miracle, just a miraculous sign.
Who will be the lady who will take my hand...
Is there no compassion left in this bleak land?
I am reaching out like I've never done before,
Baring my very soul, unto the innermost core.
Will your eyes see within it, the spark of love,
Will you touch the deep fire, without a glove?
It is all there, if you are willing to look deep...
Will you call out my name, as you lie in sleep?
I hear not your voice in the lingering nights...
Wherein I walk, and have seen lonely sights.
There could be such magic beneath the moon,
If you would take my hand, and do so soon!
I'm not looking for purity, never to condemn...
I'm just looking for some girl as crazy as I am.
My soul has grown weary of dreaming alone;
I am not just a spirit, I am of flesh and bone.
My eyes have wept rivers and not all of joy...
I am questing for love, and that is not a ploy!
No knight can seek forever; all journeys end,
Are you the maid, my broken heart to mend?
I admit I've been crazy, but desire is like that!
It is easier to understand, where I have sat.
Lonely is the kingdom and lonely the throne,
When far too much darkness you are shown.
No one is perfect, and that is never a crime...
But without any light, people just grow blind!
Too long I have stumbled and know not why,
Like a baby bird who: longs most simply to fly.
I need an angel, but she doesn't need wings,
A down to earth angel with a heart that sings.
Is it any wonder why for love and light I pine;
I have not gone hungry, but never truly dine!
When you hunger for something you crave so,
Nothing will do, no matter where you may go!
I have seen such beauty, as cannot be said...
And such horrors, as exist only with the dead.
Nothing in this world or in any that come after,
Compare to the sound of a maiden's laughter!
Will you laugh with me no matter what comes,
Will you stay with me, however life becomes?
Let us guide one another on life's long road...
Let me not go too long carrying all: of the load!
Loneliness is a burden even darkness shuns...
So walk with me, let not my dream be undone.
There is darkness and light to see in my soul...
Just let love overtake you; throw away control!
