Blankets of Us
Upon the watercolor sky
clouds crisscross
white chalk marks
pierced by golden drops
reflected on topaz glass of sea
Sun mirrors itself
the setting;
In me
the unsettling;
skin drinks in saltspun essence of the bay
listening to the wind's echoes
sea song brings me to my knees
Waves long to kiss the shore
the earth recognizes my naked steps
often they have tread here
the whistling wind
has kissed my cheeks
to sting the tears
A rough stone
worn smooth by waves of change
at times only my shadow
stood close enough to know
You
your human note
music that moves me
I see the pulse of summer in your eyes
ice crystals melt under amber glow
You carve words out of my marble heart
quench the skin with liquid hands
that still the wind
and stir the sand
Tracing on bare skin
our own verse
At once unsteady
now an anchor for my drifting dreams
Here, where the sea is donned
in dress of blue and green with white laced edges
adorned by moon, earth's jeweled neck
I place my heart in your hands
reluctant to part
as through your lips
slides my name
a touch, a promise
lights the flame
I find home in your arms
You melt within my rhyme
transformed...
These moments
captured on parchment of heart and mind
make their mark
on yours
on mine

reflected on topaz glass of sea
