The Masterpiece Arises
(Inspired by watching Simon Bull paint)
Blank canvas like virgin snow on a frosty morning, white inifinite potential
The artist prepares his rainbowed palette and anxious brushes
Beginning in the center, the background is started
With broad brushes of faint color to serve as the base
Yellow and green commence, hinting of Poppies in spring
With reds and blues around the outer rim framing the process
The artist moves with rhthym and flow, the dance rehearsed
Through years of practice and exercised artistics
Background music calms and inspires, setting the mood
Stiring the creative juices so that they can ooze and exude
His eyes move about the emerging painting, watchful
As if looking for hints about what comes next, how to balance and enhance
Brushes change back and forth, occasionally rinsed
With no waste of effort or unnecessary moments of delay
The strokes are many and varied, some are soft like tickles
While others dab color like flourescent mortar, cementing
As a result, the work has texture along with color and motion
Bringing perspective and depth to the two dimensionality
Layer upon layer the masterpiece is built, all within the duration of two songs
Explosions of color and hue like fireworks kaleidoscoping
Finally it is finished right before our eyes
Like witnessing God at the moment of creation
