A Parents Love
Blowing out the candles
celebrating another year of getting
older
less dependent of others
i watched you wipe a tear from
the corner of your eye
while dad turned away
trying to hide
the emotions that wouldn't subside
i let out a heavy breath
and closed my eyes
wishing in the next two years
ill make there tears turn into pride
nothing more
nothing less
only forward
my way to progress
little did i know
the trouble of letting go
dressed in a gown
only colors the school would
provide
i hold my head high
smiling the smile
of a champion
looking upon the crowd
trying to zero you out
there's no one to be found
it was then i realized
you never let go of my hand...
celebrating another year of getting
older
less dependent of others
i watched you wipe a tear from
the corner of your eye
while dad turned away
trying to hide
the emotions that wouldn't subside
i let out a heavy breath
and closed my eyes
wishing in the next two years
ill make there tears turn into pride
nothing more
nothing less
only forward
my way to progress
little did i know
the trouble of letting go
dressed in a gown
only colors the school would
provide
i hold my head high
smiling the smile
of a champion
looking upon the crowd
trying to zero you out
there's no one to be found
it was then i realized
you never let go of my hand...
