Meditation for the Past
Gazing down at my head
au naturelle
with new horizons melting
I notice my eyelids grow heavy
each slow
steady breath
arriving out
and then in
Out and then in
breathing out
and then in
until wishes
seem possibilities
the past
a snake's shed skin
In the distance
an invisible orchestra
begins to play
understanding the moment is now
while the clock
becomes a newborn lamb
floating in perfect time
dancing on clouds
to the sigh of soft new shoes
Tired memories
are shrugged away
falling scales from a wise old fish
gently nudging the green glass
of aquarium corners
sinking slowly
down
to sleep for good
on a sandy bed of forgiveness
And when I am ready
gently
as soon as I wish
I may return
from out
and then in
breathing
out and then in
to feel a gilded dawn
filled with peace
fresh understanding and love
then taste the spiralling scent
of the sweetest ruby
rose
au naturelle
with new horizons melting
I notice my eyelids grow heavy
each slow
steady breath
arriving out
and then in
Out and then in
breathing out
and then in
until wishes
seem possibilities
the past
a snake's shed skin
In the distance
an invisible orchestra
begins to play
understanding the moment is now
while the clock
becomes a newborn lamb
floating in perfect time
dancing on clouds
to the sigh of soft new shoes
Tired memories

falling scales from a wise old fish
gently nudging the green glass
of aquarium corners
sinking slowly
down
to sleep for good
on a sandy bed of forgiveness
And when I am ready
gently
as soon as I wish
I may return
from out
and then in
breathing
out and then in
to feel a gilded dawn
