Evolved Star
The big bang in my head
not wanting to leave this bed
the atmosphere is closing in around me
stars are all i see
Constellations made from sin
never knowing how or where to begin
the space between my ears
complicating my life for years
dark matter of the soul
planets spin out of control
we were binary, we were two
our common center of gravity did not carry through
you are a galaxy away
in the heavens to stay
no amount of wishing will raise you from your slumber
I am now 1, the loneliest number
looking for you in the sky nightly
holding on to the memories of you ever so tightly
your the only one to make me fainthearted
light years away from where we started
this is not a phase
this is dismay
you were a quasar, the brightest light in my dark world
now everything inside me whirls
sunspots of the heart
i stopped marking my star chart
my telescope reminds me of you
looking deep into the cosmos now makes me blue
Extragalactic dreams of you haunt my nights
laying on a blanket watching the northern lights
waking up realizing it was only a dream
wanting to punch fate in the face, make her scream
the planets the moon and the stars
they were once ours
we looked to them for so much
now i look to them to keep us in touch
not wanting to leave this bed
the atmosphere is closing in around me
stars are all i see
Constellations made from sin
never knowing how or where to begin
the space between my ears
complicating my life for years
