The Two Sisters
The two sisters
Sol strolls daily across the sky,
shamelessly flaunting her radiant rise.
Day after day she does the same,
Not thinking, her sister cannot share her fame.
While Luna is confined to full moon nights ,
far fewer than her sister has by rights.
How unfair, she thought one day
that only once a month she shows herself in full display.
Her sister Sol daily gets worship and praise
she wear her finest gown, it glints with rays.
But Luna, only gets serenaded by the wolves and hounds,
night creatures or the occasional lovers see her gown.
One day Luna decided she would be seen in the day,
worshipped by all, Like Sol, in the same way.
She would be the one the world would love,
the one they would see when they look up.
The one in whose light they would bask,
relishing her beauty and her magnificence at last.
So instead of go to her rest at the rise of Sol,
She covered her and the world cried in woe.
The sky darkened in an ominous way,
striking blind any who saw the display.
All manner of creature both big and small,
hid from this monstrous thing they all beheld.
What happened to sol they all clamored?
Where has she gone, is she dead?
Luna realized the terrible thing she had done,
all she wanted was to be loved as Sol was.
So she kissed her sister and departed from the sky,
and Sol was once again seen and began to shine.
Luna remorseful could not help but feel sad,
she donned her blue dress, judging herself a cad.
Sol felt pity for her beloved sister and rose early to say;
dearest do not feel bad, there is no equal to your beauty,
that is why the night sky is your canvas when you are on display,
and all the flora and fauna sings to you when you come their way.
The sisters made peace, each having their special time
to display their finest dress, for the enjoyment of all living kind.
