Wolf and The Viper

I feel asleep in the arms of the Wolf,
As I slept beside the Viper.
The soft fur rubs against my back
As smooth scales lay aside me.
The low growls and hisses slowly drug me to sleep
As I feel razorblade teeth on my cold pale skin.
The two powers of the real world,
The personification of good and evil;
Wolf and the Viper.
Each night they join me in my bed as I sleep,
Persuading the other to leave.
Viper, with its trickery and condescending ways
Wraps itself around my mind and bites my soul
Trying to leak venom inside.
Though Wolf never fails me when I am being tricked.
He growls a deep warning that frightens the Viper
Away from me and allows me to sleep in peace.
Continually each night it is the same charade, the two beings.
But it has been so long, that Wolf has won my heart,
And I cannot be fooled by the Viper no more.
I no longer sleep with the Viper,
Though I still fall asleep in Wolf's arms.
May that be the way it shall forever stay.
