The Discarded Threads of Life

In the suffocating darkness of graveyard midnights,
where ghosts tap-dance a tango of terror
within the mausoleum of discarded dreams.
The omnipresent wraiths chronicle
histories abdicated futures.
Eternally watching the unspent, wasted threads
disperse and flow.

Backwards, into the realms of knots and warped wefts,
the endless entanglements and intertwined fibers
of all the would, could and should have been.
The stagnant, forsaken collisions against alternative,
individualistic fore-ordinations.
Partial threads culminating,
spent, frayed remnants.

Intermittent, shimmering gossamer strands persist,
sparking with the perpetual sustenance
provided by wafer-thin realities existence.
The illusion of reality persevering,
some allayed in near perfect abutment,
others disappearing, interweaving alternative
unsullied threads.

The Spinner forbade mankind regressive insight,
the discarded futures permitted evolution,
each enclosed in consummate isolation.
Existing whist not existing, followed and forgotten.
Immeasurable permutations of futures,
containing every alternative decision,
only a communion wafer away.

Dreams were interlaced within The Thread,
the Muses dis-rememberence prohibited
access to the subconsciousness of mortals.
Chimera, the only autonomous emotion,
permits occasional intuitive glimpses
into the would, could, should have been
consequential eventualities.

'Dreams are true while they last, and do we not all live in dreams?' Tennyson.
