My Thoughts

Down in the dark depths of the earth
Down where hurt and despair lies
Torrential rain storms and earthquakes
Relentless fires in the skies

Where can I turn for comfort?
Who will help me in my despair
I help everyone with my brand of comfort
I always wonder if anyone cared

I close my eyes and breathe a breath of peace
I wake in a garden far off in the east
There is a lake and a woman whose beauty is rare
She calls to me in my time of despair

“Daughter, be still. You have a job to do
When it is over, you will drink from this lake of blue
No more worries or tears will be shed
Your sacred duty will be done, and you’ll rest your head.”

With this, I wake reformed and refreshed
To continue my mission till my last breath
I may feel more than I should
I will shoulder the weight; only I could
