Westside

 
tripping off the pain I look to escape
a bit of Voodoo, Hoodoo will help
spin those sounds
lyrics about ferocity
taking me back to the neighborhood

when I was fearless and strong
a sisterhood of understanding
a universal sort of acceptance

the music loud
the bass thumping
felt brave all of a sudden
the night didn't prowl it ignited and invigorated

little white girl walking the west side
but most peeps knew me
out of place not really
there was a language of respect

my friend Laurie a red-bone gal
kept an eye out for me
her mama so much fun
and if I got in trouble her mama was the first one my dad called

those days I will never get back
my youth I miss more than anything
and the friends I met there so much like family damn...
