Misery
If 'misery loves company'.
Then shouldn't I be surrounded by people.
Perhaps I have a special kind of misery,one that eschews company.
Better to wallow alone that drag others into my mire.

I'm not the misery prone type and I don't mind company but I can and do live without it most times.
I think that saying is meant to say ' misery loves miserable company'....
