Priestesses
Guardians of the flame,
sacred vows of purity,
to silent lives constrained.
Chaste in ancient Greece,
virgins bound by duty's chain,
faithful to the peace.
Under the temple's gaze,
Vestal's hearts in shadows dwell,
freedom's distant haze.
Solemn and restrained
lives of the Vestal Virgins
bound by their sacred duties
and so imposed virginity.

These women needed to be loyal and strong willed...I can't imagine being chaste for 30 years...If caught, they would be buried alive. I'm eating chocolates and raising my glass to them today!

Reminder of The Pleiades, the 7 daughters of Atlas being pursued by Orion but they could never be caught....Zeus , pitying them, placed them in heaven as stars....the 7th became invisible except for viewers with keen eyesight,. HHKKLLLLLL
