The Net
Majestically spanning San Francisco and Sausalito
stands one of the world's most famous landmarks
and one of the world's most utilized final stops
Who are these infrequent flyers?
These sad and lonely diers?
Students
Teachers (believe me, I get it)
the jilted, the lonely, the ill
so many reasons
always one less
than reasons to live
Recently, a safety net was added
285 feet in the sky
Taxpayers are arguing about it
It's a concept they just don't get
calling it a waste of their money
to save just 30 lives a year
of premature ghosts
who don't want to be here
That may just be the kind of apathy
that turns unfinished lives into history
Why not invest in community
somewhere to turn
places to stay
so the desperate screaming souls
can live another day
or forty years
