Familiarity
Familiar
The smell of the home cooked meal
The softness in their voices
The warmth I feel
Close to home
The halls I once roamed
Familiarity
Of the faces
And songs
They made me strong
I’ve felt so wrong
One day in their warm embrace
They make everything okay
Again, the familiarity of it all
The pictures hung on the wall
I feel like I belong
Within the frame,
I smile without shame
Familiar voices fade
When I step back into my world
The unfamiliarity of it all
Where all seems almost wrong
And I don’t belong
The smell of the home cooked meal
The softness in their voices
The warmth I feel
Close to home
The halls I once roamed
Familiarity
Of the faces
And songs
They made me strong
I’ve felt so wrong
One day in their warm embrace
They make everything okay
Again, the familiarity of it all
The pictures hung on the wall
I feel like I belong
Within the frame,
I smile without shame
Familiar voices fade
When I step back into my world
The unfamiliarity of it all
Where all seems almost wrong
And I don’t belong
