I guess it really depends on who you know
Or who you are and what the cause may be
But if I’m on the wrong side of the color palette
I might be screwed when it comes to validity

I’ve been called names and had objects thrown at me before
Just for existing but more likely because I have a brown face
Perhaps it was because I passed through the wrong neighborhood
But it’s tempting to clap back or jump at the chance to catch a case

In today’s world many of us are facing an impending doom
We have our allies but we also have shadows following closely
Because if a felon in power pardons felons for breaking the law
Who’s to say that policy will then turnover and over so grossly

I’m an optimist, a pacifist, a dreamer but I’m also a realist
Some kind of hell comes this way and we can already feel the heat
So we must arm ourselves with information since knowledge is power
Because shit is about get hard for many of us out here on the street
