If I Could Stay
I can feel you slipping, and I’m terrified,
Trying to hold on, but I’m paralyzed.
How do I save you when I’m breaking too?
I’m a storm, but you’re the quiet truth.
I see the weight you’re trying to bear,
And I’m afraid I’ll leave you there.
I’m just a ghost with nothing to give,
But for you, I’d learn to live.
If I could stay, I’d never leave,
I’d take your pain, make you believe.
But I’m fading fast, I’m burning out,
I can’t save you while I drown.
But still, I’d try, I swear I’d fight—
If I could stay, I’d make it right.
You don’t deserve to feel this way,
To lose yourself in the endless gray.
I see your light, it’s barely there,
But it’s brighter than this world we share.
You’ve given me what I can’t explain,
And I can’t stand to see you in this pain.
I’m not enough to pull you through,
But I’d destroy myself for you.
If I could stay, I’d never leave,
I’d take your pain, make you believe.
But I’m fading fast, I’m burning out,
I can’t save you while I drown.
But still, I’d try, I swear I’d fight—
If I could stay, I’d make it right.
I’m afraid I’ll only drag you down,
That my darkness will pull you to the ground.
But your voice is the only thing I hear,
The only truth that feels so clear.
If I go under, will you still shine?
Or will you fall with me in time?
If I could stay, I’d be your shield,
Take the blows this world won’t heal.
But I’m broken, I’m not whole,
And I can’t save your burning soul.
Still, I’d try, I swear I’d fight—
If I could stay, I’d make it right.
I’m just a shadow in your light,
Trying to hold you through the night.
But if I fade, if I let go,
Promise me you’ll let your light show.
Even if I lose this fight—
I’d give my all to keep you alive.
