Lit Candle
I held a candle lit
For you to follow
You came close in fear of it
Scared to reveal what’s in the shadow
You ran to the light
Blew it out
Diminishing the spark
No one can see who you are
In the dark
You shed lonely tears
Not wanting to be held
Condemning all who want to hold you
Sending them to hell
Striking a match to light the wick
See all the tears shed behind it
The light that is held is an illusion you know
No one can be this good not even the white is not white in falling snow
Either way the candle is lit
It is up to you, always has been if you want it.
For you to follow
You came close in fear of it
Scared to reveal what’s in the shadow
You ran to the light
Blew it out
Diminishing the spark
No one can see who you are
In the dark
You shed lonely tears
Not wanting to be held
Condemning all who want to hold you
Sending them to hell
Striking a match to light the wick
See all the tears shed behind it
The light that is held is an illusion you know
No one can be this good not even the white is not white in falling snow
Either way the candle is lit
It is up to you, always has been if you want it.
