Turning Cheeks
I tighten my blindfold and pretend to not see
shielding myself with indifference
he pretends to not see my facade
I’ve never seen his face
he keeps it hidden behind the glitter
but it’s made of glass, and it cuts
abandoned too soon
he now walks with three legs
one is always out the door
guilty affections mask his inflictions
I close my eyes tighter
I too fear abandonment
shielding myself with indifference
he pretends to not see my facade
I’ve never seen his face
he keeps it hidden behind the glitter
but it’s made of glass, and it cuts
abandoned too soon
he now walks with three legs
one is always out the door
guilty affections mask his inflictions
I close my eyes tighter
I too fear abandonment
