Bird on a Barren Feeder
In a vacant quiet winter world,
behold the robin's final chord.
The bird at the barren feeder
struck my heart's eye.
I also know a cold hunger
inside unexplained need's cry.
The universe tells me I'm human, mortal.
As I sway over the edge of the portal.
Death's invite in hand,
as I'm chased by haunted screaming dreams,.
that never anchored a chance.
The bird would fly straight in.
Me, hesitant, with my unresolved sin.
The bird accepts his demise
and gets on with living.
It's existence within the joy it sings.
We must not resist what cannot be changed.
Thoughts can be bent and rearranged.
Don't be caught in your thoughts.
Learn to accept what must be.
Let the interference of thought flee.
behold the robin's final chord.
