Happiness

I've searched for happiness
Underneath all of God's
Vast skies

Walked the empty streets
Of a fading town
About to die

Trying my best to find
The secret to the
Elusive dream

I'm starting to wonder
If everything is really
The way it seems

Coolness of the night
Surrounds me in a lost
Feeling of warmth

Just like the bright
Exploding lights
Of July fourth

Laying on the grass
Looking up at the stars
Memories beating through my heart
