We were both married so screwing was a no go ..

That lasted about 2 drinks
Then innocence took a back seat
City Life is a meat grinder
You can tenderize and flame
Some like her well done
I took her medium with luscious pink

Bukowski was at the table in the corner
Hunter S. Thompson too
Wasted in the smokey dark heat
Comparing poetry and fright
I was at home with Sha Sha
Lou Reed stopped by to say hello

She didn't say much
Her English was a vacancy
We communicated in shy glances
Touched each other in places criminal
Yet this was the Scorpian Bar
Between Avenue B and C in New York City

Noone cared much for dignity
Sin was on the half shell
Lower East Side beer
Charming in a dime store way
You get me
Right ?
