Snake!!!
Just a picture of the snake I caught at work. It's a black racer. Totally harmless to people, yet eat rodents and other (some harmful!) Snakes .
Yes, I let it go after a few minutes. It kinda blended well with my arm tatts. Lol.
No, I'm obviously not scared of any snakes. I was raised around them. My stepmother was the snake lady in the circus back in the day. I've held cobras even. What!

Snakes are really beautiful animals. They do evoke a lot of fear in many people that can be very hard to overcome. We have a pet corn snake. Really beautiful and gentle when handled. Glad to hear you just enjoyed the experience and let the snake go about its business

You have a pet snake!! That's awesome. Corn snakes are gorgeous creatures.
I never understood the fear of snakes. Caution perhaps, for venomous ones. Of course I grew up in the swamps and the forests.
To me they are incredible creatures.

Yes, nature is incredible. Everything has its role, too. Snakes are very important to the ecological balance by the way. I don't even kill the "bad ones". Just leave them alone, ya know?

Great write, Styxian. I owned a ball python back in the day. Unfortunately they get killed a lot because they're so feared. And most black snakes are great to have around not only to keep the mice population down, but they kill all the venomous snakes in the pit-viper family. Thanks for sharing. Appreciate you.

Yep. I've never personally had a pet snake, but my step mom had several. She was quite the interesting person, to say the least. Lol. Including a 14 foot python, that she ultimately gave to the Tampa zoo, because it was just too big to keep.

Cobras?! No thank you.
I’m not into snakes, but I dig tats and they do look cool together…
Writing doesn’t have to be a poem, but poetry is expression, so to me, this qualifies.

I have "several" Tatts and most are reptilian of some sort. Maybe all my years of snakes and gators, etc, made me overly fond of them. Lol

I've always said nature can teach us if we know how to look.
I can't say I'm fond of snakes, but I certainly do respect them. :)

I grew up outside most of my childhood days. We never stayed inside. So I always had a fondness for wildlife etc. I've always been curious about it. It's fascinating to me.

The snake is one of my spirit animals and is a very powerful symbol in healing. If it showed up to you like that, it indicates you are shedding your skin of the past as a form of healing and embarking on a new beginning!
Thanks for not killing it! Snakes are so underrated as a need in the ecosystem.

I'm literally the snake guy at work. Even the (rarely) poisonous ones. I just take the venomous ones out to the woodland and let them go. But non poisonous ones I just move them away from the buildings a bit. They are beautiful creatures to me!
And perhaps you're right about the shedding the past thing!? Seeing how my life is indeed transitioning to a new path as we speak.

I dated a guy with an 8' python once. He kept it at the foot of the bed...once I got used to it, kinda cool. It does look at home among your tats!

An eight foot python so close to where you're sleeping is a bit of a concern! Lol.
You were brave! I love snakes, yeah, but i want to be alert when I'm around them!
An eight footer is formidable.

I should have clarified...that beast had its own enclosure. I'd have slept in the car otherwise! 😂

I figured that it was secured. But, my stepmom's 14 footer got out twice from its enclosure the last year she had it. So she donated to the the zoo.

What a beauty! My son used to have a pet corn snake. I loved watching it feed... it was fascinating & disturbing. Such uncomplicated, instinctive creatures. Bonus points for matching the tattoos!!

This one is about three feet long. It didn’t even try to coil around my arm or anything. Maybe it knew I’m a good guy. lol.

Nothing wrong about posting a photo. It's a great way to get to know the person behind the words :-)
You brought me on a trip down memory lane. Long time ago (somewhere in 2020) I worked in a bar / restaurant. It was summer, the doors were open and suddenly a guy with a huge snake around his neck walked by. I said to my coworkers: excuse me, ran out the door and asked the guy if I could have the snake around my neck and he said yes. That was one helluva mighty experience. The feel the weight of that snake 🐍 Also: I once went to a snake / reptile sale. Mind you, I don't think we should keep snakes as a pet, yet I came home with a rabbit, saved him from a horrible snake death. Going to wrap this up before it turns into a novel 😂

I knew you were a kind hearted soul, by your writes.
And you can write as much as your want, poetry, stories, comments, etc. Our words are fuel, and its a cold world sometimes....

It's hard to not share a trip down memory lane (though 2020 should be 2002, lol) and we poets can be wordy... and I agree with you: it's a cold world outside, the least we can do is make it a bit warmer 🖤
