Unconditional love

"Why do you love me?"
 He asked with eyes full of tears
"I don't deserve you"
He said as a tear started to run down his face
"I put you through so much shit,
 and you still stay. Why?"
I tried to hold back tears
 as his words hurt my heart
I gently explained
"There is this beautiful thing
 called unconditional love" I said
A smile lit up his face
I still feel like he doesn't understand
Nothing he could could do
 could make me lose my love for this man
Losing him would be worse
than anything he could possibly put me through
Not forgiving him is something I simply can't do

When you truly love someone
You don't run when times get rough
You hold on tighter
Knowing everything will be okay
 as long as you're together

"You only do the things you do
because you were hurt
or you feel like you have to"
I said letting him know I understand
It's not fair that life can take a beautiful treasure
And make it not see it's worth
In my eyes
 you are the most beautiful treasure on earth

I won't let the scars on your heart tear us apart
I can make your imperfections go away with art
You say "I don't like my scars"
Let me use my love as a form of art
To paint over the scars on your heart
And turn it into a beautiful piece of art
Maybe then you will see yourself
the way that I see you
Not unworthy, broken, and bad
But deserving, strong, brave,
and the most precious treasure
the world has ever had

No matter how much pain you put me through
