Aromatize

Shrivel and plummet, leaf and frond,    
beneath the charging clouds that blow      
through the cerulean cold beyond      
the broken nimbostratus glow...    
splitting the wanton solar ray      
to multitudinous pallid shades      
harnessing nature's neutral gray      
for autumn glory promenades      
in conference with the conifer      
and its windfall eau de cologne      
in all the places it will occur      
from needles to the lonely cone    
or the broadleaf equivalent      
from the vine maple, or the oak,    
where carotenoids ambivalent...    
season the season...with their smoke!
