Trance Illuminated

I found suffering
from their sin
buried in pain
afforded by kin
carved into the past
future fails to begin

Vaguely asleep
barren dreaming
assuredly alive
but not gleaming
brutal existence
lacking meaning

Eyes closed tightly
yet unrested
any drifting
the mind contested
all this slumber
quite uninvested

Nonetheless prone
in sombre snooze
ignoring all sparks
meant to be cues
frozen lullabies
do not amuse

The past and present
now interlace
awakened, aware
in quiet space
new opportunity
to find grace

Light illuminates
finding truth
no longer the child
