of public money griefs.

By all means give them equal time
with open ears and mind
but best know first what's law and crime
to say how they're inclined.

The judge will say it's no excuse
that you knew not the law
or that your wits would not deduce
statutes from moral flaw.

And it may grind your gears to hear
your character called out
by a confident sonneteer...
whose rhymes make dipshits pout.
