Why Bother

 
Why do I bother to ask  
When they don’t want to give  
 
I keep wearing a mask  
Of content in order to silently live  
 
Why do I bother to dream  
That tomorrow is going to be okay  
 
When tomorrow seems  
To be like any other painful day  
 
They tell me I have to be the one  
To give from the bottom of the heart  
 
Why do I have to be the Sun  
When the Moon doesn’t want to take a part  
 
I always hide behind a smile  
I laugh to show the world that all is fine  
 
When shadows dark and vile  
Lurk deeply inside my twisted spine  
 
Why do I bother to ask  
When the only answer is NEIN
