Image for the poem Black Rose

Black Rose

I wish I was among the great writers
though my thoughts are like a stunted tree
drinking from dank waters

I reach for the heavens
but am tied to the ground
left toungue tied and listless

The need to express myself fuels me
to fight for tomorrow
when I just want to flee

I feel like a flower stripped
of its petals
withering, wilting

Plucked bare of witty metaphors
and upbeat prose
darkness embraces me

A black rose blooms
with razor sharp thorns
once a weak daisy

I'm now armed
blooming in the night
now if you hurt me I will bite back
