what's it to you...
it's all in the translation...isn't it
how we take a word...
...a concept...
& make it fit our personal credo
...or agenda...depending
I don't know what it is to you
but to me...sisterhood is a sacred thing
a sharing of strength
honoring our commonalities
cherishing our differences
uplifting when the world pulls us down
& it does...frequently
we need to look out for one another
straighten each other's crown
it's a bond beyond trivialities
name...age...race...class...upbringing
I stand with all when I stand with one
it's not a part-time gig...that's just how I live
trying to even the balance
when oppression still holds so much weight
held down by society
...in all the wrong ways...
we need to stand together
...this is my firm belief
but I see women using gender as a weapon
twisting dudes around their little fingers
playing cutesy to their face
but behind their backs...
claws out & lethally sharpened
they're turning dirty on their sisters
imagining themselves as better
like every other female is competition
cutting & bashing
straight up shameful behavior
fuck...ladies...
men don't do us near as much damage
some vigorously wave the sisterhood banner
...as a hijacked contract...
so long as it suits their personal pursuits
meanwhile...
they're privately poking holes in another woman's life raft
that's not sisterhood...
...that's user-hood
girls...knock it off...
we can all do without that
