Love Ends Up Dead

Rubbing elbows with important people
Grifting off a talent you don’t possess
Always funding someone else's dream
Down to the very last detail you obsess

Catering to his every need gotta be hands on
Seize the right moment before it’s long gone

Preaching under the guise of protection
Getting dirty just to glow in the power
Morphing into some pseudo father figure
Pawn his future just to fill an hour

Envy fueling the dynamic of this relationship
Wrecking his heart for a one man ego-trip

A father looks out for his son
Isn’t that what you said
Gotta hustle to get it done
Until all the love ends up dead

Author's Note
Late night musing. It's got a lyrical vibe, something I haven't attempted to do much of lately. The moral of this story is simply parents managing their children can turn nasty sometimes. I've seen and heard it go bad.

"Out on this road takes it's toll
and you pay for everything you do
under lights, made me blind
this place is the same as last night"
