Image for the poem Scorpions

Scorpions

they gripped tightly
with their pedipalps
refusing to crawl out
from the lacrimal gate
hidden from sight
in their wellspring

briny rivers flowing
down my skull
beneath the flesh
leaving a burning ache
behind the mask
stinging trails
of micro scorpions
that no one sees
